Millions of kitchen beginners have already paid their tribute by investing in her cookery books. Yesterday Prince Charles joined the Delia Smith fan club when she arrived at Buckingham Palace to be made a CBE. After receiving the honour, 68-year-old Delia said: 'It's sort of a tribute to home cooks all over Britain.'

THE BEST-known artists' labels for wines and spirits have been produced for Château Mouton Rothschild, the classic French vintage wine. The tradition began with a 1945 bottle celebrating victory in the Second World War, designed by Philippe Jullian. Subsequent artists over the next 60 years included Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and in 2004 Prince Charles, in a special label to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale between Britain and France.

THEY'VE got their own clothes range, a couple of mil in the bank and a rock star on the arm, but celebs are still pining for one thing ... common sense. While Hollywood stars, famous models and singers are well rehearsed in flashing a pearly white smile they're a little different when it comes to actually speaking. Kate Moss is the latest famous face to seriously regret giving a piece of her size zero mind.

Balls says he is strengthening the role of history in primary schools; but Prince Charles apparently doesn't think so, and on the face of it the new subject headings will do little to appease the Historical Association, which frets about the dilution of pure history in secondary schools. It is squeezed out by other subjects, subsumed into humanities, and taught in a way that promotes analytical skill, hence that word "understanding". Whether history is being downgraded or not, it seems likely that a party

Children from a primary school in William Shakespeare's home town in Warwickshire have brought a smile to the Prince of Wales's face with their own interpretation of Twelfth Night. Letters between the mayor and Lord Rogers, a Labour peer, reveal a fraught relationship in City Hall. In one, Lord Rogers wrote: "As for you and I working closely together, this, quite simply, has never happened." A spokesman for the mayor said Mr Johnson "remains grateful" for the former aides' input.

The announcement by Prince Charles was made at a meeting at St James' Palace, London, where the Prince praised the members of the Informal Working Group saying, "We have arrived at a consensus on how emergency funding might be deployed in the near future." The new protection plan will reward countries on a performance basis, based on changes in national deforestation rates. Payments would be made after agreed targets had been achieved.

I was delighted to read yesterday that Prince Charles has stopped talking to plants in order to tell that fool Ed Balls that it's a really, really bloody stupid idea to stop teaching children useful things when they're at school. Traditional subjects such as history and geography are to be sidelined in the biggest shake-up of primary education for 20 years. Ed Balls vowed to press ahead with changing the curriculum to more general themes and topics...Under the Children's Secretary's plans, 13 stand-al
